The Big Mac is a hamburger sold by the international fast-food chain McDonald's. It was first introduced in 1967 by Jim Delligatti, a McDonald's franchisee, and has since become one of the company's most recognizable and best-selling products. The Big Mac consists of two beef patties, special sauce, iceberg lettuce, American cheese, pickles, and onions, served on a three-piece sesame seed bun. The exact recipe for the special sauce is a closely guarded McDonald's secret.
It is all the better to present the slightly modified Big Mac in the self-made creation.

One of my favorites! Homemade is even stronger than the one from the well-known manufacturer – Prime Recipes

For the burger
4 burger buns with sesame seeds (3 bun halves each)
320 g ground beef
4 slices of processed cheese
A few leaves of iceberg lettuce
1 small onion
2 servings of pickles
Big Mac sauce
120 g mayonnaise
20 g pickle relish
1 tsp white wine vinegar
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/2 small garlic clove
1 shallot
1 tbsp mustard
1 tsp ketchup
1/2 tsp sugar
Preparation in 6 steps
Toast the burger buns: Lightly toast the bun halves in a pan or on the grill until golden brown.
Fry the patties: Form 8 thin patties from the ground beef. Fry in a hot pan with a little oil for about 1.5–2 minutes on each side. Lightly salt. Place a slice of processed cheese on each of the patties, so that the remaining patties serve as the "bottom" patties.
Build the burgers (from bottom to top):
Bottom bun half:
– Big Mac sauce
– Some onion, iceberg lettuce, cucumber slices
– 1 patty without cheese
Middle bun slice:
– Big Mac sauce
– Onion, iceberg lettuce, cucumber
– 1 patty with cheese
Top bun half:
– Place on top and press down lightly
Serve: It's best to serve the Big Macs immediately – e.g., with a side dish. For example, with fries and extra Big Mac sauce for dipping.
Big Mac Sauce – Preparation
Prepare the shallot and garlic: Finely chop the shallot and half a garlic clove or crush them with a grater/garlic press to ensure no chunks remain in the sauce.
Combine all ingredients: In a bowl, thoroughly mix the mayonnaise, pickle relish, white wine vinegar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard, ketchup, sugar, and the finely chopped shallot and garlic.
💡 Save calories –
Total savings potential: 👉 Up to 500–700 kcal per serving if you:
Reduce the mayonnaise from 120g to 60g or replace some with low-fat yogurt
Use only 2 slices of cheese instead of 4
Omit the middle bun (classic Big Mac setup)
Use lean ground beef (e.g., tartar) instead of 20% fat ground beef
Omit the sugar in the sauce or replace it with a calorie-free substitute
👉 This way, the flavor is fully preserved – but you save almost half a meal in calories!
