The Deep Fried Cheeseburger is a culinary creation that appeals to burger lovers and fans of fried treats alike. This unique burger consists of a classic cheeseburger dipped in oil and then fried to perfection. Not the whole burger, but the smashed patties, including the cheese. Despite its popularity, it's important to note that this burger isn't necessarily the healthiest choice due to its high fat and calorie content. But for those looking to indulge in a cheat day or simply try something new, the Deep Fried Cheeseburger might be just the thing.

TIP:

Explore different types of cheese. Two meat patties are placed on the burger with different slices of cheese.

Ingredients

For 2 servings

Deep Fried Cheeseburger

For the burger

  • 2 brioche buns

  • 240 g minced beef

  • 4 slices of cheese (2 different types)

  • 1/2 onion

  • 2 portions of pickled gherkins

  • 4 tsp mustard

  • 4 tsp mayonnaise

  • 1 L oil for frying

Preparation in 6 steps

  1. Start the process by peeling the onion and slicing it into approximately 0.5 cm thick rings. Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and form them into balls. Then, using a burger press or spatula, flatten them until the patties reach a thickness of approximately 0.5 cm.

  2. Prepare the hob by heating it with a pan and a little oil, or set the gas grill with a reversible plate to direct high heat.

  3. Cut the two halves of the burger bun in half and brush with butter. Then toast them cut-side down on a griddle or in a pan for about 30 seconds.

  4. Heat the oil in a pot on the stove to approximately 160°C (320°F) or in a Dutch oven on the grill over medium heat to approximately 190°C (375°F). Carefully place the patty into the hot oil using tongs. Fry for approximately 30 seconds.

CAUTION: Always keep an eye on the hot fat and never leave it unattended on the hob. Make sure the hot fat does not come into contact with water!

  5. Using a spatula, lift the patty and place a slice of cheese on top. Dip the patty and cheese into the hot oil 4-5 times until the cheese is melted. Repeat this step with the remaining patties and cheese.

  6. Spread the bun halves with mayonnaise and mustard. Place two patties on each bottom bun half—one American cheese patty and one Emmental cheese patty—along with pickles and onions. Place the top bun halves on the burgers and cut them in half to serve.
