For the cheeseburger

  • 2 brioche buns

  • 200 g ground beef

  • 2 slices of cheddar cheese

  • 1/2 tomato

  • 1/2 red onion

  • 2 portions of pickles

  • A few leaves of Batavia lettuce

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • Salt & black pepper to taste

  • Oil for frying

7-step preparation

  1. Form the patties:

Divide the ground beef into two equal-sized balls and form them into thin patties using a burger press or your hands.

  2. Prepare the grill or pan:

Prepare the stovetop or gas grill for direct and indirect heat. Place the reversible plate in the direct zone and preheat thoroughly.

  3. Prepare the toppings:

Wash the tomato and slice it thinly. Clean the lettuce leaves and shake them dry. Peel the onion and slice it thinly.

  4. Fry the patties:

Place the patties on the hot plate, season with salt and pepper, and cook for about 3–4 minutes until a firm crust forms.

  5. Melt the cheese:

Turn the patties over, top with cheddar cheese, and let it melt for about 2 minutes in the indirect zone with the lid closed until the desired degree of doneness is reached.

  6. Toast the buns:

Cut the brioche buns in half and brush both cut sides with butter. Place them cut-side down on the plate briefly and toast until golden brown.

  7. Top the burgers:

Spread a little mayonnaise on the bottom halves of the buns, if desired. Top with lettuce, the grilled patties, gherkins, tomato slices, and onion rings.

Spread some mayonnaise on the top half of the bun to complete the burger.

💡 Save calories –

Total savings potential: 👉 Up to 150–250 kcal per serving if you:

  • Reduce mayonnaise to 1 tablespoon or replace it with low-fat yogurt or light mayo

  • Use butter sparingly or not at all when toasting buns

  • Use only 1 slice of cheese instead of 2 or switch to light processed cheese

  • Use lean ground beef (10–15% fat) instead of standard ground beef

  • Use only 1 teaspoon of oil or oil spray when frying

👉 This way, the burger stays classic and juicy, but with significantly less fat and calories – perfect for a more mindful burger option.
