The Chili Cheeseburger is a delicious variation. It consists of two juicy beef patties served on a bun. What makes this burger special is the addition of a spicy chili cheese sauce, which gives it its unique flavor. Jalapeños or other hot peppers are added for extra spice. Some versions of the Chili Cheeseburger also include a portion of chili con carne.
This burger is ideal for those who like it spicy and flavorful.
TIP:
Are jalapeños too hot for you? No problem, use pickled peppers from a jar instead.

Delicious cheese sauce with a decent amount of spice. The spice was more than enough for me personally. Conclusion: This has something! – Prime Recipes

For the Chili Cheeseburger
2 brioche buns
400 g ground beef
8 tbsp chili cheese sauce
40 g jalapeños (from a jar)
20 g butter
Pinch of salt & black pepper
Oil for frying
5-step preparation
Prepare the patties:
Season the ground beef with salt and pepper and form into even-sized meatballs. Cover and let rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes – this will keep the patties stable during cooking.
Preheat the grill or pan:
Heat a pan with a little oil on the stovetop or place the griddle on a gas grill. The heat should be set to maximum direct and indirect heat.
Fry or grill the patties:
Season the prepared patties on both sides over direct heat.
Then cook them over indirect heat until cooked to your desired doneness. Season with salt, if desired.
Toast the burger buns:
Cut the burger buns in half and brush both cut sides with butter.
Place cut-side down on a hot plate or pan and toast until golden brown.
Assemble the burgers:
Brush the bottom half of the bun with 1 tablespoon of chili cheese sauce.
Add 1 tablespoon of sauce to the first patty, then top with jalapeños. Place the second patty on top, spread the top half of the bun with 2 tablespoons of chili cheese sauce, and finish the burger.
💡 Save calories –
Total savings potential: 👉 Up to 250–350 kcal per serving if you:
Use lean ground beef (max. 10–15% fat) instead of standard ground beef (saves approx. 100 kcal)
Reduce the chili cheese sauce to 4 tablespoons per burger or make a light version yourself
Use butter sparingly or omit it when toasting the buns (e.g., dry toast)
Use smaller or lighter brioche buns (e.g., 60g instead of 80–90g per bun)
Use only a little oil for frying or use oil spray
👉 This way, the burger stays hearty, creamy, and spicy, but significantly lower in fat and calories
