The pulled pork burger is a popular dish in American cuisine, especially in the Southern United States. It consists of slow-cooked pork so tender that it can be pulled apart into strands. This meat is then often tossed with barbecue sauce and served on a burger bun.
Preparing pulled pork is a lengthy process, often taking several hours. The meat is typically cooked at low temperatures in the oven or on the grill until it's tender enough to pull apart easily. The meat is usually rubbed with a spice blend before cooking for added flavor.
Likewise, the pulled pork burger is often served with various side dishes, including coleslaw, pickles, and French fries, as well as an extra portion of barbecue sauce for dipping.
Despite the long cooking process, the pulled pork burger is popular for its juicy, smoky and sweet flavor combination.

Due to the tender fibers, this pulled pork burger has a very soft and pleasant consistency , which makes every bite a great experience – Prime Recipes

Pulled Pork Burger
For the burger
2 burger buns
400 g pulled pork
60 g coleslaw
50 g lamb's lettuce
4 slices of Camembert
30 g peanut butter
40 ml barbecue sauce
Oil for frying
5-step Preparation
Prepare the buns: Halve the burger buns and lightly toast them in a pan with a little oil or butter until golden brown. Set aside.
Heat the pulled pork: Heat the pulled pork in a pan with a little oil over medium heat until hot. Finally, toss with the barbecue sauce and let it caramelize briefly (optionally, add a splash of water for juiciness).
Fry the Camembert: Briefly fry the Camembert slices in a pan without fat until they melt slightly but don't fall apart. Alternatively, bake in the oven.
Assemble the burgers:
Brush the bottom half of the bun with a little peanut butter.
Top with some lamb's lettuce.
Then generously spread the pulled pork.
Place the Camembert slices on top of the meat.
Top with a portion of coleslaw.
Place the top half of the bun on top.
Serve: Serve the burger immediately – best with fries or sweet potato wedges.
💡 Save calories –
Total savings potential: 👉 Up to 200–300 kcal per serving if you:
Use only 2 slices of Camembert instead of 4 or use a lighter soft cheese
Reduce peanut butter to 10–15g – a thin layer is enough for flavor
Reduce barbecue sauce to 20ml or use a low-sugar version
Choose pulled pork from lean pork or replace some of the sauce with jackfruit/tofu
Use only a little oil (e.g., spray) when frying instead of pouring it generously
👉 This way, the burger remains juicy, flavorful, and filling, but is significantly lighter and more balanced.
