30 g jalapeños (from a jar)
100 ml milk
1 tsp flour
1 tsp chili flakes
1 tsp baking soda
Salt & pepper
4-step Preparation
1. Prepare the Cheese Whiz (prepare & keep warm):
Heat some milk in a small saucepan.
Stir in the flour and let it thicken slightly over medium heat.
Add jalapeños, chili flakes, salt, pepper, and baking soda.
Stir in cheese slices in batches until a smooth, creamy sauce forms.
Keep warm over low heat, stirring occasionally.
2. Prepare burger buns:
Cut the buns in half and brush with butter.
Toast in a pan or on the grill until golden brown.
3. Cook smashed patties:
Form the ground beef into two equal balls (120 g each).
Heat the pan until very hot, add a little oil.
Add the meatballs and immediately smash them flat with a spatula until thin.
Cook for about 2 minutes on each side, don't forget to season with salt.
Optional: Near the end, sprinkle Cheese Whiz or some regular cheese directly onto the patties.
4. Assemble the burgers:
Brush the bottom half of the bun with a little guacamole.
Place the smashed patty on top.
Sprinkle with Cheese Whiz.
Sprinkle with crushed nacho chips (for crunch).
Place the top half of the bun on top.
Tip:
Smother with extra jalapeño slices or a dollop of sour cream for an even more Tex-Mex feel!
💡 Save calories –
Total savings potential: 👉 Up to 200–300 kcal per serving if you:
Reduce cheddar to 4 slices instead of 8 or use a light processed cheese
Limit guacamole to 1 tablespoon per burger
Reduce nacho chips from 30g to 15g – that's plenty for crunch
Butter buns only thinly with butter or omit butter altogether
Prepare the Cheese Whiz with low-fat milk, using a little less if necessary
👉 The burger remains crispy, creamy, and hearty, but saves significantly on fat and calories – without sacrificing flavor.
