Ingredients
For 2 servings
Smashed Nachos
For the burger
2 burger buns
240 g minced beef
30 g nacho chips
2 tbsp guacamole
Butter for spreading
pinch of salt
Oil for frying
For the Cheese Whiz
8 slices of cheddar / processed cheese
30 g jalapeños (from a jar)
100 ml milk
1 tsp flour
1 tsp chili flakes
1 tsp baking soda
Salt & Pepper
Preparation in 6 steps
Start with the Cheese Whiz: In a small saucepan on the stovetop, melt the milk and cheese over medium heat, stirring constantly. Sift in the flour and continue stirring until the mixture thickens. Add the jalapeños and chili flakes. Then add the baking soda and continue stirring until the mixture is lightly foamy. Finally, season with salt and pepper.
Meanwhile, preheat another zone of the hob with a pan and a little oil or the gas grill with a reversible plate by placing it on direct high heat.
The ground beef should be formed into four equal-sized balls and then pressed into thin burger patties approximately 0.5 cm thick using a burger press or a grill spatula.
The patties should be fried or grilled for a few minutes on each side. Then they should be heated in the indirect zone of the grill to the desired doneness.
The burger buns are cut open and both halves are spread with butter. They are then toasted cut-side down on the grill or in a pan for a few minutes.
Spread guacamole on the bottom half of the bun. Top half with nacho chips, the first smashed patty, and half of the Cheese Whiz. Then add the second smashed patty, guacamole, and the remaining nacho chips. Top with the remaining Cheese Whiz. Finish with the top half of the bun and serve.
