Preparation in 7 steps
Cook the pasta: Cook the pasta in salted water according to the package instructions until al dente. Then drain, rinse with cold water, and drain well.
Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, combine the crushed tomatoes with the tomato paste, spices, and herbs. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika, or use ready-made pasta sauce.
Prepare the skewers: Carefully thread the cooled pasta onto the wooden skewers – about 8 pieces per skewer. This works best with rigatoni, as they are large enough.
Top: Place the pasta skewers on a lightly oiled baking sheet and generously spread with the tomato sauce.
Top: Now comes the pizza twist: Top the skewers with chopped ingredients such as salami, peppers, olives, or corn.
Top with cheese: Finally, sprinkle the grated cheese evenly over the pasta sticks.
Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (top/bottom heat) for about 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is nicely melted and lightly browned.
💡 Save calories –
Total savings potential: 👉 Up to 150–200 kcal per serving if you:
Reduce mozzarella to 75g or use light mozzarella
Reduce pasta to 100g instead of 150g dry – sufficient for a rich topping
Replace salami with lean ham, tofu, or omit it
Make your own pasta sauce (e.g., from passata, with no added sugar)
Use toppings like corn and olives sparingly (they contain more sugar/fat than often thought)
👉 This keeps the sticks hearty, cheesy, and filling, but with a significantly better calorie balance
